Frequently Asked Questions

Q:        What type of music do you play?
A:
This largely depends on you, the client, your preferences and the audience requests.  We have a selection of approximately 40,000 songs so there is plenty to choose from.

Q:        Do you do requests?
A:         Yes – as long as it won’t clear the dance floor!

Q:        Do you have a microphone available for speeches?
A:         Yes.

Q. How do I submit my music list and special requests.

A. A great place to start is ourmusic database on our website.  We are flexible and can receive your special requests up to 3 days prior to your event, although many requests can be received on the dance floor, as we have an extensive music library.

Q. What makes your service different than other DJ services?

A. Disco@Paradise has been established for nearly 10 years, we offer over 40,000 songs to choose from, we have quality equipment and most of all we have a team of experienced DJs who are fun, friendly, professional, with a talent for reading a crowd and committed to playing the music you like to ensure you have a great event.

Q. Why is Disco@Paradise a better choice than a band?

  1. We always provide a wider variety of music than a band, and that people want to dance to. We can play anything from Big Bands, 50's & 60's Rock-n-Roll, Motown, 70's & Classic Disco, 80's Dance Music, 90's  Top 40, & Today's Greatest Hits - by the original artist!
  2. We are cheaper than most bands and we play continuous music throughout the entire event, including background music through dinner, without any breaks in the music.
  3. If you hire a band, you will still need music for when the banc take breaks – which often means a band and a DJ.

Q. Can we pick the kind of music we want to hear?

A. Absolutely! We encourage a mix of three factors –your specific choice of key ‘must have’ songs, audience requests, and a selection by our DJs based on reactions by the crowd and how the event is evolving.

Q. Do you have testimonials available?

A. Yes. Disco@Paradise has plenty of satisfied clients who would be happy to tell you about their positive experiences with our company.

Q. What deposit is required and what form of payment do you accept?

A. We accept Cash, Cheques and Internet Banking for your non-refundable deposit of $100 to secure the date. The remaining balance must be paid to the DJ by the day of the event in cash, cheque or Internet Banking. Any other payment arrangements must be approved in advance.

Q. What kind of setup and electrical requirements do you have?

A. We
only require a standard electrical power point and we provide our own table. It is also advisable to set us up near the dance floor, to ensure better sound quality for your event.

Q. Are you available for wedding ceremony and reception music?

A. Yes. For a minimal fee, Disco@Paradise will provide appropriate music for your wedding ceremony and reception. If there are separate rooms involved, an additional sound system can be provided.

Q. If we extend the event, what will the overtime cost?

A. Our standard rate for overtime is $100.00 per hour after 1.00am. This can be booked at the time of the party, as late as 12.59am!

Q. What are the cancellation procedures should I cancel my date?

A. As stated deposits are non-refundable. However, if you give us as much notice as possible and we receive another booking we can refund your deposit or put it toward another function.

Q. Should I provide a meal for the Disco@Paradise
DJs at my event?

A. While it is not required by contract, many clients do provide a meal, where a meal is being served.  Most caterers are unlikely to charge for an additional person if you haven’t factored in the DJ.  Even though the party may be for only four hours, the DJ has to travel to the event, spend time setting up, and eventually packing up - all of which make up about a 7 - 8 hour day.

Q. How long do you play for?

We charge depending on the type of event you require us for.

A. Typically our evening event packages include continuous entertainment from your chosen start time, often about 6pm, until 1am. After 1am, you can book additional hours starting at $100.00 per hour.

Q. How far in advance should I reserve my date?

A. The more notice the better & typicallythis depends on the type of event, from one month out for a corporate function to anywhere from six to 12 months ahead for a wedding.  Because we have a team of DJs, we are more flexible in being able to accommodate several events on the same night and also last minute bookings.  We have even been able to fill in when another company’s DJ didn’t show and we were able to get there and play music within the hour!
